About us

Our Beginning

We are a small product development team based in Hong Kong, dedicated to designing practical and space-efficient solutions for backyard chicken keepers in the United States. Our journey began with a simple interest in raising chickens in small spaces, which led us to focus on nesting boxes.

Why Chickens?

Our founder’s story started with a personal health reason. In China, free-range eggs—commonly called tu ji dan (土鸡蛋)—are valued for their natural taste and quality. Wanting fresh, trustworthy eggs, our founder began raising two hens on a small home balcony. This experience sparked a deeper appreciation for the joy and responsibility of keeping chickens.

Later, to better develop and observe our products, we brought two hens into our office located in Tsim Sha Tsui. Without a traditional coop, the hens roam freely in a corner of the workspace and sometimes rest in a small cage. Despite Hong Kong’s hot climate and limited space, this setup allowed us to closely study hen behavior and laying habits.

Our office companion 'Mabel' is particularly cooperative in our work.

Challenges to Solutions

Like many chicken keepers, we encountered common issues such as broken or dirty eggs, egg pecking, and hens reluctant to use nesting areas. We initially tried various mats, but they did not fully address these problems.

Later, we discovered roll-away nesting boxes, which help eggs roll away immediately after being laid, reducing damage and pecking. However, these boxes often lack cushioning, making hens uncomfortable and less willing to lay eggs there. Moreover, most roll-away boxes are large and designed for farms or big backyards—not for small urban spaces like apartments or balconies.

Our Product Idea

To address these issues, we designed a compact roll-away nesting box suitable for small spaces and a few hens. Our design allows the box to be placed on the floor, inside cages, or on balconies.

We also developed a custom-designed mat with clips that keep it securely in place. This mat is soft and comfortable for hens while still allowing eggs to roll smoothly. Our two office hens quickly adapted to this setup, inspiring us to share the design with other small-scale chicken keepers.

Why Focus on the U.S. Market?

We noticed that backyard chicken keeping is a growing and meaningful lifestyle choice in the United States. Beyond fresh eggs, many people raise chickens for connection, sustainability, and self-reliance. We aim to offer thoughtful products that fit the needs of these communities, whether in urban backyards or suburban spaces.
